Year 3

Welcome to the
Bumblebees and Foxes

Year 3 Teachers - Miss Begum & Mrs Hammami

Support Staff - Miss Salma & Miss Rushton

Learning at Home
We expect all children to read their reading book at home at least three times a week to support their learning. Children should also access their 'TT Rockstars' for at least 15 minutes three times a week.

Each year group will also have six 'Teach Your Parent' activities per term linked to their wider curriculum learning. These are to enrich your child's wider knowledge and support you with further learning at home and are optional to complete.

Our Year 3 children enjoyed a fantastic visit to Poole’s Cavern this term to support their study of Rocks in science. They were full of curiosity as they explored the underground chambers, learned about how the caves were formed and discovered the incredible rock formations hidden beneath the hillside. Their enthusiasm, excellent behaviour, and teamwork shone throughout the day. The teachers were incredibly proud of them — they all SPARKLED!

In their music lessons, the children have been creating imaginative soundscapes inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream. They experimented with different instruments and techniques to represent the magical characters, enchanted forests, and playful moments from the play. The pupils really enjoyed bringing Shakespeare’s story to life through sound and creativity!

In PE, Year 3 have been learning the Standing Long Jump — a two‑footed horizontal jump performed from a stationary position. Pupils took turns being both the athlete and the coach, practising their jumping technique and offering constructive feedback to help each other improve. It was fantastic to see their confidence grow as their skills developed.

In English, the children have enjoyed reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare. They had fun exploring different characters and acting out key scenes, while discovering the plot and its twists.

On World Book Day, the children took part in a virtual author visit. They joined author and illustrator David O’Connell to talk about and draw insects. Following his guidance, they created their own insect inspired by his book Beastie Bros.
