Science Week
British Science Week 6 - 15th March 2026
We are excited to be taking part in Science Week this year! The children will be exploring a range of hands‑on investigations, creative challenges, and scientific discoveries linked to our chosen theme. Throughout the week, pupils will have opportunities to question, experiment and develop their curiosity about the world around them. We look forward to sharing the wonderful learning and enthusiasm that Science Week brings!
British Science Week Poster Competition
Children can take part in the British Science Week Poster Competition this year! The national competition invites young people across the UK to design a poster linked to this year’s theme, which explores what children think makes a positive childhood and what a happy future could look like.
Once the posters are complete, bring them into school - Deadline Monday 6th April 2026.
We can’t wait to see the creativity and imagination from our pupils as they take part in this exciting nationwide event!
Poster competition - British Science Week
There are lots of exciting science events happening across Stoke‑on‑Trent this March!
•Staffordshire Invertebrate Science Fair – Saturday 7 March 2026, held at Ormiston Meridian Academy, Sandon Road, Meir, ST3 7DF. This is a free, family‑friendly event running throughout the day with stalls, activities and expert talks.
•Young Verrall Lecture for children (ages 7–11) – Saturday 7 March 2026 at 14:00, also at Ormiston Meridian Academy as part of the Invertebrate Science Fair.
•River Fly Monitoring Citizen‑Science Event – Wednesday 11 March 2026, at Whitfield Valley Nature Reserve Car Park, Ford Green Road, ST6 1NG, where families can take part in real wildlife monitoring.
These events offer brilliant opportunities for children to explore scientific ideas, get hands‑on with nature, and join in the excitement of Science Week across the city.
Please encourage your children to take part in simple scientific investigations at home. We would love to see what they discover! If you have any photos of their investigations, please send them in so we can share their fantastic work in school.
